August 13, 2024

The full programme for the IUCN UK Peatland Programme 2024 conference ‘Peatlands, People and Nature’ is now available on the events page of our website.

This year’s conference will be delivered as a hybrid event, with full access to our Day 1 plenary sessions available for remote attendees. We’ll explore the theme ‘Peatlands, People and Nature’, learning about Scotland’s coordinated national programme of peatland restoration being delivered by Peatland ACTION, our headline sponsor and key delivery partners for the event.

We’ll celebrate the volunteers, communities and creatives engaging with peatlands through art, poetry and citizen science, with Day 1 plenary talks and an evening ‘Peatland Poetry and Cinema’ open to the pubic and available to remote attendees.

We’ll have a dedicated exhibition space throughout the event, open to the public on the evening of Day 1. We’ll showcase the latest peatland science, restoration projects and community engagement from across the UK, including Crichton Carbon Centre, youth-led RE-PEAT and the Art and Energy Collective among many others. Try your hand at peatland restoration with Peatland ACTION’s simulator, or add to the ‘Mossy Carpet’, a huge collective artwork highlighting the power of peatlands and individual action in addressing the climate crisis.

On Day 2, choose from a huge choice of field visits to local peatland sites and learn about developing restoration techniques, landscape-scale and community projects, and the challenges of working in the beautiful yet remote Scottish Highlands. Meet new people from across the UK and beyond at our conference dinner and let your hair down by dancing to a traditional ceilidh.

On Day 3, we’ll be exploring the themes that matter to the peatland community, with a wide choice of knowledge sharing sessions and interactive workshops exploring policy, practice, community-centred approaches and innovative ways of delivering a sustainable future for our peatlands.

Full tickets are selling fast, so book yours now to avoid disappointment.
