Peatland restoration is now a mainstream activity for Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) across the National Estate. During the summer of 2017 FCS will be publishing a procurement tender to appoint suitably qualified and experienced contractors to a national framework, with an estimated value of between £8m and £12m. The framework will run for up to four years and deliver all of the peatland restoration on the National Estate, including excavator based tree recycling and rewetting works and manual rewetting works. Restoration programmes include forest-to-bog and open hill restoration operations on a variety of mire types from upland blanket bog to lowland raised bogs.
FES would like to increase our base of competent contractors across Scotland and any contractor wishing to bid should register for free with Public Contract Scotland using the “Alert Profile” option and selecting the category “Horticultural – Other Horticultural” as soon as possible to receive an alert when the tender has been published, so that they can take part in the tender process.
The Forestry Commission page on Public Contracts Scotland is found by clicking here and using the tab marked “current contract notices”. Prospective bidders can click on the links and view notices here without registration.
Bidders will also need to register for free on the sister site PCS-Tenders to get access to the documents at https://www.publictendersscotland.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk.
