Shared Values and Management Pathways for Lowland Peatlands
Join the UKRI Greenhouse Gas Peat project (funded by UKRI) to explore the future of lowland peatlands and their role in climate action. This interactive session will bring together a wide range of voices – from land managers and farmers to policymakers, researchers, and community organisations – to shape practical, inclusive approaches to peatland restoration.

Workshop activities
During the session, participants will:
🌾 Identify the different values that influence peatland management decisions
🔍 Examine innovative techniques being tested at sites like Pollybell Farm through the UKRI GGR Peat project
🌍 Co-create viable and socially accepted strategies for reducing and removing greenhouse gas emissions
🛠️ Explore how to overcome the real-world challenges of implementing these strategies
Who should attend?
Anyone involved in lowland peatland restoration or land use – including landowners, farmers, conservation organisations, policymakers, researchers, local councils, and community groups.
What you'll help shape:
Your input will contribute to a set of recommendations for policy and practice that support the climate potential of peatlands, while considering the needs of farming, conservation, and local communities.
