Travel information

Aviemore is easily accessible by public transport, which we encourage our delegates to use where possible. 

For those attending field visits on Wednesday 18 September, transport will be provided from the Macdonald Aviemore Resort, where you will be able to collect a packed lunch before leaving. 

 

By rail

You can get to Aviemore directly by train from major Scottish cities including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, Perth and Inverness. There are also direct trains from London to Edinburgh and Glasgow. 

The Macdonald Aviemore Resort is about 0.3 miles (~ 6 minute walk) from Aviemore Station and the town centre is less than 1 mile (~20 minute walk). Taxis are available from the station but it is advised to check availability before travelling

By bus or coach

You can reach Aviemore using MegabusCityLink and Stagecoach

By car

You can reach the Cairngorms National Park via the A9 or the A93 and then follow directions to Aviemore. There is a range of parking at the Macdonald Aviemore Resort, including accessible parking and electric vehicle charging stations. For up-to-date road travel information, visit AA Traffic News.

By air

The closest airport to Aviemore is Inverness Airport, however all Scottish airports are within reach by road and rail. 


Accommodation

Accommodation and breakfast are not provided as part of our conference ticket options, but the Macdonald Aviemore Resort have reserved a limited number of rooms for our delegates at £174 per night, single occupancy. 

If you wish to book one of the allocated rooms, you must contact the reservation centre directly on 0344 879 9000 and use the booking code IUCA160924. All bedrooms must be booked by 5 August 2024. After this date, rooms are subject to availability and best available rates. 

Aviemore also offers a variety of accommodation including hotels, B&Bs, self-catering and nearby campsites. More information can be found on the accommodation pages of the Visit Aviemore website
