The Meres and Mosses Forum 2017: The future of wetland restoration: Business as usual or time to change?

March 15, 2017

15th & 16th March 2017

The Meres and Mosses Forum is an annual conference for both researchers and practitioners interested in lowland peat-based ecosystems and their place in the landscape.

The 2017 conference will be hosted by Shropshire Wildlife Trust, and will be taking place at Cockshutt Millennium Hall. Due to the success of the previous forum it will continue to run as a two day event, and this year will focus on different motivations behind undertaking site and landscape restoration projects, their outcomes and how these are achieved.

We are currently building the conference programme, so extend an opportunity to both researchers and practitioners to submit an abstract for consideration.  The format of the conference will be 15 minute slots set as 12 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for Q&A.

All presentations addressing practical or theoretical work around the following areas are welcome;

-          Restoration for target species and/or habitats Day One

-          Restoration of site function (e.g. hydrological function) Day Two

We also welcome presentations on possible future restoration techniques, and in what situations they may be applicable. If you are interested in giving a talk about your research or delivery work, then please contact graceg@shropshirewildlifetrust.org.uk with the completed abstract submission form attached. Presentations from undergraduate and postgraduate students are welcome.

A minibus service will be running from Wem train station for those who wish to travel by rail.

Ticket sales are now open, spaces are limited so book now to secure a place at the early bird rate.
