The Fens East Peat Partnership (FEPP) with Natural England have arranged a series of monthly webinars on lowland peat restoration topics. The webinars are a combination of presentations, case studies and sharing experiences. They include information gained through the FEPP NCPGS Discovery Project and the current NCPGS Restoration Project where 17 sites are undertaking peat restoration activity in the lowland Fens of Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
Rewetting peatlands- case studies from Shapwick Heath NNR, Somerset and the Marches Mosses NNR, Shropshire
A presentation on two of the leading examples of lowland peat restoration covering techniques such as trench bunding, pasture to bog trials, re-engineering the arterial drainage, and the forest to bog tree removal system used to raise water levels at two ex-cut over peatland sites: Shapwick Heath NNR, part of the Avalon Marshes and Marches Mosses NNR, the third largest area of lowland-raised peatbog in the UK.
