10 years ago this month Sir John Lawton produced the Making Space for Nature Report commonly known now as the Lawton Report.
The report was based on many years of work, liaising with nature conservation organisations, local government, academia, land owning, farming and business sectors. The impact was significant in policy impact, shaping both the Natural Environment White Paper and the Biodiversity 2020 strategy.
After 10 years many reports would be outdated but the Lawton report is still informing policy and being used by government. On the 10th Anniversary Sir John and the panel wrote to government recognising the impacts the report had but also how little progress had been made.
In this webinar Sir John will update us on his thinking and where we should be going and the relevance to the big issues of Climate change, agriculture and biodiversity loss.
