“No one is too small to make a difference.” Greta Thunberg.
Responding to the Covid-19 pandemic is taking much of our efforts at the moment. But we must look to the future. We need to ensure that the ‘green recovery’ in Britain and the island of Ireland includes practical action, both personal and professional, to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises.
The keynote presentation will emphasise our role as individuals and the importance of breaking down barriers. There will be presentations from the CIEEM Action 2030 project and from the National Trust on how it is addressing the climate emergency and biodiversity crisis across its extensive landholdings. The programme will go on to emphasise the capacity for CO2 absorption and sequestration by different habitats and how this can be translated into action through the creation and restoration of marine habitats, peatlands, woodlands and wetlands.
The Conference is being organised in partnership with the Action 2030 group and the Ecological Restoration and Habitat Creation Special Interest Group.
