LIFE IP Peatlands and People

Introduction

A 7-year LIFE Integrated Project, Peatlands and People collaborates locally, regionally, nationally and internationally to generate and share solutions and knowledge for a better future. Three project pillars work together to restore and rehabilitate peatlands across Ireland's midlands (Peatlands Excellence) as well as establish an accelerator programme (Just Transition Accelerator) and design a visitor attraction (People's Discovery Attraction). This project is led by Bord na Móna, together with the National Parks and Wildlife Service (of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage), the Environmental Protection Agency, ERINN Innovation Ltd, and National University of Ireland Galway. In addition to the LIFE funding and complementary support from the partners, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine have also committed additional funds to the project.
